The C-BEAM Lab (Cement Bio-Energy Advanced Materials) has officially been established at the Department of the Built Environment, Aalborg University.
Our research focuses on developing sustainable and multifunctional cementitious materials, exploring how traditional infrastructure materials can be transformed into functional and energy-active systems. The lab brings together research in cement chemistry, microbial systems, and sustainable materials engineering.
Current research directions include:
• Cement scaffolds for microbial systems
• Cement-based energy storage using electroactive microorganisms
• Low-carbon cementitious binders
• Life-cycle assessment of building materials
By integrating materials science, microbiology, and sustainability assessment, the C-BEAM Lab aims to contribute to the green transition of the built environment and the development of next-generation infrastructure materials.
We welcome collaborations with academic and industrial partners interested in sustainable cement and bio-energy materials.
